Pilates at our North London Clinic

This popular and easy to learn exercise therapy gives people strength in their "core" muscles, especially the abdominal (tummy) muscles which support the body from within, reducing the likelihood of back problems and other injuries.

Invented by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's, and utilised for decades in the major ballet companies to safeguard their top ballerinas from injury, it is now something that everyone can learn whether young or old, fit or unfit. People with existing problems such as back pain can also learn the technique and indeed, research supports its use in improving these sorts of problems. As Joseph Pilates himself said:

"In ten sessions you'll feel the difference, in twenty you'll see the difference, and in thirty you'll have a new body".

In the Studio, at Oakwood Physiotherapy Clinic, classes are held for small groups up to 5 people so that individual attention is given to everyone. Classes are grouped according to ability. One to one classes are also available and are highly recommended before joining a class for the tutor to assess each individuals' capabilities and ensure the correct technique in the basic exercises.
